This time, I participated in the 2023 Evidence-Based Medicine Week held by Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. Our team submitted a poster presentation on the evidence-based effects of external Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) applications, and we were fortunate enough to receive an award. This post is a brief reflection on the experience—both the process and a few personal takeaways.
Poster Submission
Our project focused on the evidence-based application of external Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapies. We explored common clinical scenarios such as medicated plasters (貼敷) and herbal washes (藥洗), compiling relevant literature and observational data. Our goal was to present the local therapeutic effects of TCM in a way that is straightforward and accessible, highlighting its potential in managing localized symptoms through non-invasive approaches.
Behind the Scenes
The timeline for preparing the poster was actually quite tight — we had to complete everything from data organization to layout design within a limited period. There was also a brief opportunity to present and explain our work on-site. Although I was a bit nervous, everything went smoothly overall.
Winning Moment & Takeaways
In the end, our poster was selected for an award. Although it was a modest prize, we were all genuinely happy and proud. This experience was not only an encouragement, but also a reminder that there is still much room to explore and grow in the field of evidence-based research in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
